Mountaineering Expeditions
Anything Can Be
Overcome With Enough Vision, Determination ...
And An Enormous Supply Of Toilet Paper
Okay, you’ve climbed a
few mountains; maybe even a couple of 14,000-footers
here in the US.
Good start, now what?
Well, there’s
Denali, right? Yeah, except that everyone there speaks
perfect English — even the Koreans. Where’s the
adventure in that? Furthermore, if the Park
Service bureaucracy gets any worse, they'll soon
demand a note from your mommy, a pee sample, and four years worth of tax returns just to
put you on the friggin' waiting list.
Think about
this:
Just one or two days' travel away, in South
America and Asia, there are more mountains
than any one of us could climb in a lifetime. Big
ones, small ones, hard ones, easy ones ...
take your pick. That’s a whole lot of mountains.
The
really good news is that bureaucracy and
over-regulation are almost nonexistent in most
places outside the States (yeah, imagine that). Don't know about
you, Muffy, but that makes us giddy as a 12-year-old sugar-buzzed
girl at a Hannah Montana concert.
